Exclusive Review: Papa Roach “Still Swingin”

On Tuesday July 24, Papa Roach will debut an exclusive video featuring their new single “Still Swingin” from their forthcoming album The Connection [available October 2 via Eleven Seven Music]. The video is a fascinating look at the construction of the record’s cover set to the tune of this hyper-energetic track. The official music video for the track is still in the editing process and will premiere sometime in August.

The Rockstar Energy Drink UPROAR Festival crew had a chance to preview “Still Swingin” and rest assured it is a classic Papa Roach anthem with a twist. There’s a massive chorus that’s destined to be chanted in arenas worldwide. Jerry Horton tears through a punkified metal riff that cycles in and out over Tony Palermo‘s bludgeoning beats. Tobin Esperance‘s bass rumbles with a Faith No More-style groove, while Jacoby Shaddix announces, “We’ve been here from the start. We are the ones still swingin”. Once again, Shaddix flips like a switchblade from a punchy verse into a larger-than-life refrain. It’s quintessential Papa Roach, and then it drops into an electro-infused bridge that’s a welcome surprise. All in all, we can’t wait to hear it live this August and September.

The video perfectly pairs with the song’s frenetic intensity, and you’ll have to watch it when it debuts TOMORROW (July 24) on www.paparoach.com and buy it via your preferred Digital Service Provider.
